First, may I say that the Piedmont Guesthouse should be called a guest home. Because that's what it is. The 20th century Arts and Craft is perfect in every detail – from the spacious and well furnished rooms to the very cozy living room and a front porch on which I have spent many enjoyable evenings. The historic Piedmont neighborhood is a treat for the eyes of a fan of American architecture. Beautiful gardens and welcoming porches abound. However, the best thing about the guesthouse is the host Gary, or as I call him, Mr. Portland. Gary is incredibly knowledgeable about the surrounding area and all of its cultural attributes. He not only provides information but also takes guests on tours of Portland and surrounding areas. Whether here on business or pleasure, this is a place of comfort.
Our family stayed here in the summer for a wedding. We were 8 adults and two kids and we had a great time. The house was very clean, and the owner went out of his way to make sure our kids had a safe visit, and was very helpful when it came to suggestions in the area.
We are still glowing from our wonderful 5 day stay at this beautiful NE Portland rental. It was the perfect location for family to gather to celebrate our son's wedding and family brunch the following day. Each room was beautifully decorated, there was ample space, and the home, particularly the kitchen, was well appointed with everything we could possibly need. Everyone in our large party commented how much they appreciated that.
(Ample luxury towels, dinner setting for 50, plenty of sheets, super stocked kitchen with food and spices.)
Local stores were only a block away, and a beautiful park with rose garden just an 8 block walk, all situated in a quiet neighborhood. We sat out on the porch well past dark playing games provided by our host.
We have stayed at many B&B's and rented VRBO properties before, but without a doubt this was our best experience. Our host, Gary, could not have been more pleasant, thoughtful, or accommodating. I would recommend this lovely home to anyone looking for a rental in North Portland.
Gary was so helpful in planning our stay. The house was perfect for our family. We could all be together. We hosted a rehearsal dinner and the house was stocked with all the servingware we needed and the morning of the wedding all the girls could be together for hair and makeup. The rose garden was within walking distance, as was the grocery store. All the downtown attractions were a quick drive away.
I highly recommend this vacation rental.
We can't express how much we enjoyed our stay in the Portland area. The Piedmont Guesthouse was all we could have hoped for in convenience and charm. We were impressed by all the thoughtful details provided for our stay: luscious towels, comfortable sitting area and a fully equipped kitchen. The location of the Guesthouse was convenient for our needs and our host, Gary, was able to recommend numerous local establishments for dining /attractions. We can't wait to return to Portland and stay at the Piedmont Guesthouse.

We stayed at the Portland Piedmont Guesthouse for 4 nights in August 2014 and had a very enjoyable stay. The home is comfortable, very clean and nicely decorated. The location is very convenient to local sights and in a quiet neighborhood. The owner, Gary, is very accommodating and knowledgeable about great restaurants in the area. He provided a lot of good recommendations for breakfast, lunch and dinner. He also provided good directions for getting downtown quickly while avoiding major traffic. The home is well furnished and abundantly supplied with dishes, cooking utensils, spices, bath towels, etc. It is reasonably priced for the two couples that stayed here and more homey than staying in a hotel. It was nice to have a living room and dining room for visiting with each other. Gary was very prompt in responding to questions prior to our arrival and provided lots of information to enhance our visit to Portland. We would stay here again and recommend it to visitors. Thank you for sharing your home.
